Clinical Resources:

The Electronic Preventive Services Selector (ePSS) is an application designed and developed by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Nation's lead Federal agency. The ePSS application was developed to assist primary care clinicians identify the screening, counseling, and preventive medication services that are appropriate for their patients. The ePSS information is based on the current recommendations of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and can be searched by specific patient characteristics, such as age, sex, and selected behavioral risk factors.(Android version available).

PPD's Clinical Trials Mobile app provides easy access to search the National Library of Medicine (NLM) database of available clinical trials worldwide, find studies near you matching specified categories and keywords, and view detailed information about specific clinical trials. Users can also access information on how to register with PPD's ClinicalTrials.com as a clinical trial participant or investigator, save trial searches and e-mail trial data. Eponyms provides a short description of more than 1700 common and obscure medical eponyms (e.g., Rovsing's sign, Virchow's node). A perfect tool to quickly look up the meaning of any eponym.(Android version available).

The official American Red Cross First Aid app puts expert advice for everyday emergencies in your hand. Gives you instant access to the information you need to know to handle the most common first aid emergencies. With videos, interactive quizzes and simple step-by-step advice. The 2013 ICD9-CM diagnosis codes are both searchable and browseable by their traditional categories. Search simultaneously by code, diagnosis, included diagnoses, and description, through the whole ICD9-CM or through just a category or selected nonspecific code. Images within the list indicate whether a code is specific or nonspecific. NGC is an online public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. NGC Guideline Summaries are available in HTML format downloadable to hand-held devices.

iPhone game that lets you investigate, deduce and diagnose complex clinical cases within minutes using a fun, interactive cartoon-style narrative. Prognosis is specially designed for Doctors, Medical students and Nurses and each case helps to learn or recall two or three key clinical points that can be applied in your practice. Cases provide excellent preparation for the USMLE Step 2 CS, COMLEX, and other board examinations and professional licensure tests. Rounds List is a universal iOS app that allows physicians to get rid of their paper rounding list and make a virtual cloud based list that is always updated. In addition to keeping your inpatient list updated, messages can be added to each patient to remind team members of patient related information. These messages can be tasked to make sure they are completed before a patient is discharged. Rounds List also uses Apple's push notification system to allow any user to push a message to all users on the team for instant notification of team related information.

The 3M™ Littmann® SoundBuilder App is a learning tool designed to help improve the auscultation skills of students and practicing clinicians. There are 14 unique lessons - based upon key heart sounds - that combine text, a virtual mannequin, 3D cardiac animation and dynamic waveforms. (Similar auscultation apps available for Android.)

This app from the Mayo Clinic provides guidance on test selection and result interpretation, enabling physicians to search for tests by disease, test name or test ID. In addition to test information, the app provides direct access to educational resources such as videos, articles and testing algorithms.

A multi-purpose app with more than 500 essential medical calculators; drug guide with database of 2,600+ US brands and generics Interaction analyzer, pill images, dosing calculators, and formulary information from 5,000 health plans; other free resources from trusted sources; build your own news feed from the most relevant journals and news.

The Skyscape app comes loaded with a valuable package of medical resources, including drug information, medical calculators and clinical information on over 850 topics. A simple interface that allows you to search across a database of almost 25 million chemical entities based on chemical name (systematic, trivial or trade, registry number etc.) and retrieve a list of intrinsic properties, a list of predicted properties, a list of associated identifiers, with links to Wikipedia if available, and a Google based search for the chemical based, for now, on the associated InChIKey. Daily Med website provides high quality information about marketed drugs. This information includes FDA labels (package inserts). MPR is a concise drug information resource for healthcare professionals. PEPID Elements covers the identification and management of toxicology emergencies including drugs of abuse, inhaled gases, heavy metals and caustics, occupational poisoning, household and cleaning agents, pesticides, plants, mushrooms, seafood, pests, and medication overdoses.
