Dietary Supplements Labels Database

Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD) is a joint project of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) and National Library of Medicine (NLM). The DSLD contains information found on manufacturers’ labels from dietary supplement products marketed in the U.S. DSLD currently contains over 50,000 labels and is expected to eventually include most dietary supplement products sold to American consumers. The database can be browsed by active ingredients, product names, or manufacturers (contacts). Label information for products no longer on the market can also be searched by checking the box before DSLD Off Market, which can be found on the Advanced Search page.

All entries provide overviews of the action of the active ingredient with special mention of the effects on the hepatic system, information on products containing the active ingredient, chemical formula and structures, and links to canned searches of PubMed, Clinicaltrials.gov, and TOXLINE, as well as citations to articles, package inserts, and other high-quality information about the drug, herbal preparation, or supplement. This is a portion of the Natural Health Products Ingredients Database, maintained by Health Canada. These monographs cover single ingredients commonly used in herbal preparations; single ingredients includes chemical compounds and plants. Each monograph includes a description of how each herb is prepared for administration and used, and cites literature to aid in further exploration of the herbal product. It also includes product monographs and abbreviated labeling standards for a product or ingredient. The site is available in French.
